For the most part, contribution to OpenSolaris was seen to be non-existent (at least from where I was standing), and my more cynical self saw that as being exactly where Sun wanted to be on that front.īeing ex-Sun, I remember when they first had to flag internally that they were using code from outside contributors in the Solaris ON (OS/Networking - pretty much the kernel plus core utils) codebase less than a year before Oracle bought them.
